About Manipur University
Manipur University Admissions 2024: NTA has released the tentative schedule for CUET UG 2024 and CUET PG 2024. Interested students can start preparing for the CUET 2024 exams in accordance with the dates. Manipur University is a participating university in the CUET System and will provide UG and PG admissions in 2024 based on CUET 2024 scores.
Manipur University was established on June 5, 1980, under the Manipur University Act 1980. It was recognised as a central University in 2005. As per NIRF ranking 2022, Manipur Universityranked in the rank band of 151-200 under the overall category. The university was successful in maintaining a position in the NIRF ranking consecutively for six years.
The university offers courses at certificate, diploma, undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) levels. Manipur University course list includes 50+ courses offered under 44 departments and eight centres of studies. The university has 119 affiliated colleges and a constituent college. Admission at Manipur University is offered on the basis of students’ performance in the entrance tests. Manipur University has nine schools of study, 45 departments and eight centres of study. The university offers around 56 courses at certificate, diploma, UG, PG and doctorate levels. Manipur University offers placement assistance to its students. It has a well-functioning placement cell that conducts theplacement process every year. Manipur University Cut Off
Manipur University conducts its own entrance exam (MUET) for admission to different courses. It also accepts valid scores obtained in various entrance tests such as CUET UG/PG, CAT, and GMAT. Admission is not based on Manipur University cut off, the university releases merit lists of selected candidates for each programme. Manipur University Campus Facilities and Infrastructure
Manipur University campus spreads across 287 acres of lush green land in Imphal, Manipur. It is known for its infrastructure and facilities. Manipur University facilities include a library, hostel, laboratories, auditorium, sports, health, security and network facilities. Library: Manipur University library has a collection of more than 1,90,000 books and 8,600 e-Journals. The library is a part of UGC INFONET which provides direct access to databases. The opening and closing timing of the library is from 9 am to 7 pm on all working days. On holidays and Sundays, it is open from 10 am to 4 pm. The library of Manipur University also has 24x7 internet connectivity for ease of access to students and teachers.
Hostel Facilities: Manipur University hostel facilities are available for both men and women. The university has on-campus hostels, five for male students, nine for female students, one for an international hostel and a working women hostel.
Canteen and eating facilities: The university has a well-maintained canteen for students and staff. Ten other eating points are also available on the university campus where one can have breakfast and lunch facilities.
Computer Centre: Manipur University has a computer centre run under the supervision of a systems manager known as the head of the centre.
Wifi Connection: Manipur University campuses have 24x7 wifi connectivity throughout. The university was enabled with wifi connection under the MHRD Campus Wi-Fi Project with high-speed access points (APs), routers and switching network devices. The network is accessed by 4000 users at present.
CCTV Surveillance: The campus of Manipur university is under an IP-based CCTV surveillance system 24x7. This insures the security of students and faculty of the university.
Banking and Postal Facilities: Manipur University campus has an ATM facility of the State Bank of India and the Bank of Baroda and one Post Office.
Health Centre: Manipur University health facility includes a health centre for the students, residents and non-residents of the university campus.
Shopping Centre: Manipur University campus infrastructure includes a shopping centre for residents, students and staff members. One can buy daily-use items and can avail of other facilities inside the campus.
Manipur University Scholarships
Manipur University Scholarship is offered to PhD students in the form of fellowships. The students who have passed the UGC/CSIR/National (OBC/SC/ST)/Inspire Fellowships examinations receive fellowships directly from the UGC/CSIR/Concern Ministry. Manipur university scholarship is also awarded to meritorious students (one student from each PG course offered by the university's departments). For the first year, the scholarship is based on the highest marks obtained during the admission test to the PG programmes, and for the second year, it is based on the marks obtained in the first year.
Manipur University also offers financial aid to needy students. The university has opened an account in the name of the ‘MU Financial Assistance Fund' for the purpose of providing financial assistance to the highly needy and deserving PG students of the University.
